Cthulhu – The Great Old One

In August of 2013 Dann Kriss Games fell short of the crowd-funding
goal for their quick-play card game "CTHULHU: The Great Old One" on
Kickstarter.com, but after Dann's second project which transformed the
same artwork into a trio of Bicycle Playing Card Decks successfully
raised $57, 168 (over 400% of that project's goal),  The Great Old One
is ready to rise again; this time with a new "R'lyeh Rising" Limited
Edition Cthulhu Bicycle Deck!

The new project "CTHULHU: The Great Old One Card Game and Bicycle
Deck" launched on Kickstarter.com at Midnight on Jan. 31 and will end
on March 2 at 11:59 pm.  Funding is already off to an exceptional
start as many backers from both of DKG's previous crowd-funding
campaigns were poised to begin pledging the moment the Kickstarter
re-launch for the card game went live.  Dann continues to be humbled
by the overwhelming support from his backers and the Kickstarter
community of which he is a devoted member.

Dann has worked for years developing games and searching for a way to
share them with others around the world as a means of supporting his
family.  Kickstarter is providing him with that outlet.  CTHULHU: The
Great Old One Card Game, the first of many games Dann has planned for
DKG, features artwork based on the writings of his favorite author
H.P. Lovecraft!

CTHULHU: The Great Old One Card Game is quick and easy-to-play for 2-8
players of ages 8 and up.  Each card features hand-painted artwork by
gothic fantasy artist Ian Daniels with layouts by Dann Kriss and are
printed on Tarot-sized cards to better highlight these fresh
interpretations of characters from the weird tales of H.P. Lovecraft.
The game features 80 cards printed on high-quality gaming stock
(black-core) with an additional 10 cards available through project
stretch goals and special offers.

In addition to depicting many classic monsters and characters from
Lovecraft's writings, Dann and Ian have decided to pay tribute to a
handful of real-world figures who've had a major role in spreading
HPL's influence by capturing their likeness' as characters featured
within the game.  Can you guess who?  For spoilers, check out DKG on
twitter @dannkrissgames or like Dann Kriss Games on facebook!
The "Rlyeh Rising" Limited Edition Bicycle Playing Card Deck was added
to the project after a mountain of backer requests following the
tremendous popularity of the Cthulhu-themed Bicycle decks DKG released
for the company's second Kickstarter project in Oct. 2013.  Custom
Bicycle decks printed by the United States Playing Card Company have a
very strong following on Kickstarter.com and Dann is very excited
about the new deck featuring themes of Cthulhu's sunken home city of
R'lyeh.  The deck includes the standard 52 cards, two jokers and two
gaff cards; all feature custom suit symbols and artwork from the
CTHULHU: The Great Old One Card Game.

The project can be found online at:

or by visiting Dann Kriss Games' website www.dannkrissgames.com, which
is currently redirecting visitors to the main Kickstarter campaign
page for the CTHULHU: The Great Old One Card Game and Bicycle Deck
project.

Masters of the Gridiron

Masters of the Gridiron is a fast-paced head-to-head pro football card game, using real teams and players from the 2013 season.

Masters of the Gridiron combines the simplicity and strategy of a 15-minute head-to-head card game with the depth and detail of a pro football simulation.

All decks come ready to play. No dice, no boards, no gimmicks. You can be challenging your friends to exciting and realistic football action within minutes of opening the box.

Years of development have yielded a realistic football simulation that combines simple and elegant rules with unlimited depth and strategy. By focusing on one key play in each scoring drive, you play an entire football game in under 20 minutes. Despite this abstraction, we have worked tirelessly to make the game feel like real football. Every player, from your star quarterback to your under-appreciated right tackle, has their own player card; and each player has the ability to impact the result of every game.

Each player starts the game with 3 offensive player cards, 3 defensive player cards, and 4 playbook cards. To mount a scoring drive, you match a playbook card to an offensive player with the appropriate skills (such as "passing" or "run blocking") and lay them down on the table, announcing the player rating that your opponent needs to beat in order to stop your attempt to score.

Players take turns on offense until "time runs out" (when you have run out of offensive player cards). Along the way, you enjoy all the aspects of a real football game, from goal-line stands and two-point conversions to game-changing interceptions and last-minute field goals.

Games of Art

Our Games of Art Kickstarter Project presents five different board games that feature and use wonderful classic and modern art.

Petite Pastiche gives players an opportunity to mix colors and re-create the pallets used by 23 different classical artists over six centuries. Fantastiqa: The Rucksack is set in a Fantasy World of terrific 19th Century art, portraying Adventurers and the Beasts they must subdue to pursue their Quests.  In Cubist you are designing a new Modern Art Museum--using dice as the building blocks.  Rococo will have you sewing trendy 17th C. dresses for lavish balls in the Palace of Versailles.  Finally, wield a dry erase  marker and create your own Modern Art masterpiece in the styles of Paul Klee or Piet Mondrian in Games of Art itself.

In the three days since we launched, we have raised 50% of our funding goal. See http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/167427101/1162128887?token=5a99f6d8

Sid Sackson February Special!

It's the best month of the year!!!

This month is Sid Sackson month at Eagle-Gryphon Games! We are celebrating our reprint of I'm the Boss and our upcoming printing of Sid's Games of Art, which is currently running on Kickstarter! To celebrate, from now until the end of February, when you purchase a copy of I'm the Boss for 10% off of MSRP at $44.99, you can take 50% off of all our other Sid Sackson titles! If you already have I'm the Boss (Good for you!), you may still purchase the other Sid Sackson titles for 25% off of MSRP.

I'm the Boss

I'm the Boss! has every player trying to make a deal. Up to fifteen deals can be made over the course of the game, but every player cannot be part of every deal. . . so let the negotiations and the FUN begin! Each player who is part of a successful deal will receive a certain amount of money. Just how much money they earn depends upon the deal agreed to between the players and the Boss for that round. Complications arise as each player uses their action cards to derail negotiations, insert themselves into a deal, take over the role of boss, and otherwise muck up the smooth flow of deal-making that other players had hoped to achieve. The action is lively and unscripted so make the best deal that you can! Once nine deals have been made, a die is rolled after each subsequent deal to determine if the game ends (with the odds increasing each time). Victory goes to whoever has the biggest bankroll.

"Awesome negotiation; Hilarious hijinks (in the form of back-stabbing and deal-making); Easy to learn! Sid Sackson [is] a legend of game design, and I'm the Boss proves why." ~Drake's Flames

Monad

Monad is a fascinating and skillful card game for 2 to 4 players. Advance planning is essential as each player attempts to strategically trade, buy and leap his way from the lowest cards to the highest. The special deck of playing cards is sorted into seven different sets. Each set contains six different colors - three warm colors (red, orange and yellow) and three cool colors (purple, blue and green). Each Bonus card shows three bonus combinations of these colors; only one of the six colors appears on each of the player Identity cards. Each of the Common, Bi, Tri, Quad and Quint cards has a point value which appears in the center of the card; the Bonus and Identity cards function only as reference cards and thus have no point value.
A game of Monad begins with all the Bi, Tri, Quad, and Quint cards dealt face up on the board. Each player is dealt 6 Commons, with the remaining Commons placed face down to create the draw deck.
The object is to advance from the Commons through the Bi, Tri, Quad and Quint cards to the Monads by trading, buying and leaping. During a turn, you may make as many trades, buys and/or leaps as you wish. (All transactions are made with the table, not with other players.) If you cannot or do not wish to make any of these plays, you may use your turn to either draw from or "flip" the Commons deck or to pass. Each player must make his decisions skillfully in the race to obtain the required number of valuable Monads - and win the game!

Venture

In Venture, players follow in the footsteps of Carnegie and Rockefeller, as they try to acquire lucrative conglomerates, manipulate vast holdings, and instigate proxy fights to gain control of key corporations from other players.

The game comes with two decks of cards-Resources and Corporations. The Resource cards picture prominent venture capitalists of the era and provide the millions of dollars which players will use to purchase Corporation cards in six industries: Steel, Oil, Railroads, Real Estate, Automobiles, and Shipping.

During their turn, a player can:

1) Take over Corporations and form conglomerates with two or more corporations;

2) Play Proxy Fight cards to win opponents' corporations; and

3) Reorganize their holdings (if they can afford it).

The Resource deck has 2 profit cards. Whenever a profit card is drawn, play stops so that profits can be scored. These cards get reshuffled into the deck when needed, so this will happen multiple times during the game.

A game of Venture ends when the last Corporation in the deck is purchased. One final round of scoring occurs and the player with the most profits is the Winner!

Sleuth

In Sleuth, the Dealer shuffles the Gem Deck and removes one card, placing it where no player may accidentally see it. This becomes the Missing Gem. The remaining Gem cards are dealt evenly to each player to form their hands. Players record the information from their private cards on their information sheets. Any remaining Gem cards are placed face up for all players to note and record on their sheets.

Players use Search Cards to discover and record what their opponents hold in their hands-i.e. if a player had the "Blue Opals" search card, he could request any other single player show them all the blue opals in their hand. Other search cards have only one characteristic "element" of a gem-i.e. just opals, or just blues. With these cards, the interrogated player must reveal only the number of these cards that they hold and not reveal the cards themselves.

Play continues until one player believes they have solved the mystery. They note their guess and check the missing gem. If correct, the player reveals the card and wins the game! If incorrect, the player replaces the missing gem and the game continues. This player is now out of contention but must continue answering any interrogations.

Bazaar

Through skillful trading and re-trading, each player attempts to gain the right combination of colored stones from the Bank to purchase the wares displayed in the Bazaar. Values of the various wares are determined by the number of stones the purchaser holds following his transaction. Trading is governed by the current rates posted at the Exchange. When all the wares from two of the stalls have been sold, the Bazaar is closed, the game ends and the player with the highest score wins!

War of Kings

A medieval strategy board game is launching on Kickstarter February 15th.

Heath and Seth Robinson are proud to announce their new game, War of Kings, to the gaming community as they turn to Kickstarter to seek funding for production. A two to six player game, War of Kings is a fast paced and exciting strategy board game that combines rich mechanics and gameplay with beautiful artwork and miniatures.

War of Kings has been under development for over a year and the art, sculpts, and design are complete. The Kickstarter campaign will feature the game at $75 with free shipping within the U.S. This includes the full, six player game packed with high quality components (91 original miniatures) along with any stretch goals that are reached along the way. Mindful of the difficulties and expenses incurred by international backers, a group shipping option is available to the international community. Further, a no-questions-asked money-back guarantee is extended to all Kickstarter backers.

About War of Kings

It is a dark time. The once mighty empire of Arowyth has fractured, and the feudal lords have crowned themselves kings, each bent on expanding their realms and laying claim to the ancient imperial title. Alliances have worn thin, and the thirst for power has driven them to war with each other. But they are not the only forces vying for power. The Malador, foreign marauders, have taken advantage of the chaos to satisfy their lust for conquest and plunder by ravaging the land.

There will be many more things incorporated into the game board (borders, starting locations, resources, etc), but this is the land of Arowyth as Ian Schofield created it.

In War of Kings, you will assume the role of one of the rival kings. Immediately, you will be faced with decisions on every round of play about how best to expand your realm. During the Construction Phase, in which all players play simultaneously, you will generate resources, collect gold, build settlements, fortify them, and raise armies. The combat system provides many opportunities for tactical and strategic decisions. Wage war with our custom combat dice using a mechanic that engages both the attacking and defending player. You must also contend with the Maladorian Marauders, an evil horde controlled by a card-based mechanic that allows the players to decide how best to wreak havoc on the other kingdoms of Arowyth.

Kickstarter Launch Date: February 15th, 2014

Number of Players: 2 - 6

POOP: The Game That Challenges Gamers Not To Clog The Toilet

Chicago, IL, United States - February 17, 2014 - Chicago-based design group releases details of their latest project, POOP: The Game.

POOP uses simple rules similar to UNO where the first player to run out of cards wins. A Toilet Card is flipped to determine how much poop can be played in a round. Players take turns playing poop cards but must be careful not to clog the toilet. Along the way players can ‘flush’ the toilet and some of the cards require them to make various bathroom sounds on their turn.

“We really wanted a game that was fun for kids and adults,” said Blaise Sewell, game co-creator and designer. “We also turned POOP into a raucous drinking game that makes it a pretty great party game too.”

POOP’s debut on Kickstarter may be proof of the game’s wide appeal. In the first week after they released POOP it already had achieved 75 percent of the initial Kickstarter goal. Kickstarter is an online pledge system for funding creative projects and is used to generate money for start up costs through crowdsourcing.

“It’s hard not to look ahead at this point,” he said. “We love seeing this much enthusiasm and already have an Expansion Deck we’re going to make available should we reach $9,000 in this campaign.”

Their Kickstarter commercial is almost as remarkable as the actual game. Shot to look like a late-night infomercial, they’ve borrowed the worst parts of every nineties commercial you’ve ever seen, including the blue screen with credit cards and the classic line, “Sorry, no CODs.”

As the Kickstarter campaign continues to raise money for launching the printed game, a digital print-and-play is available for free.

Feels Right Design creates campaigns for non-profit organizations like Amnesty International, CODEPINK, Project Sakinah, and NORML. Their mission, as stated on their website, is to design delightful political images for groups with a limited marketing budget and they make their work affordable through sales of their games
